Job Description
The Director of Sports and Activities is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of a dynamic GPS sports and activities program for students in Years 5–12. Reporting to the Head of Cocurricular, the Director will lead a team of coaches, directors, and volunteers to deliver a high-performing, inclusive, and values-driven GPS program that complements the academic and pastoral life of the School. This role demands a visionary leader with a deep understanding of sports education, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering student growth through participation, performance, and leadership in sports and activities.
About the role
As Director of Sports and Activities, you will:
Lead the strategic direction and daily operations of a vibrant GPS sports and activities program across Years 5–12.
Mentor and manage a team of directors, coaches, and volunteers to deliver high-quality, competitive, and inclusive programs.
Oversee event planning, training schedules, and performance reviews.
Foster strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and the broader community.
Represent the School at key forums and contribute to the wider educational and sporting landscape.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver a cohesive and high-performing GPS sports and activities program aligned with the School’s values.
Recruit, develop, and support staff and volunteers, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and accreditation requirements.
Manage budgets, facilities, uniforms, and equipment.
Coordinate major events, including showcases, competitions, and celebrations.
Communicate effectively across platforms to engage the School community.
Collaborate with academic and pastoral teams to ensure holistic student development.
Selection Criteria
Proven experience in sports program management and team leadership.
Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams and foster a positive culture.
Commitment to Anglican education and the holistic development of students.
Qualified teacher registered (or eligible) with the Queensland College of Teachers.
Willingness to support the spiritual, community and cocurricular life of the School
