Job Description
As a 2025 Chess Volunteer Coach with Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) located in East Brisbane, you will play a vital role within the Cocurricular Support department. This casual position falls under the category of Coaching and Instructing. Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the development and implementation of training programs for chess players.
Providing guidance and support to student athletes during training sessions and matches.
Collaborating with the head coach to plan and execute effective coaching strategies.
Promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development among team members.
Contributing to the maintenance of equipment and facilities used for chess activities.
The ideal candidate should possess a passion for chess and coaching, along with strong communication skills, patience, and a positive attitude. Previous coaching experience or playing at a competitive level would be advantageous. Desired Skills and Experience
Experience in playing chess at a competitive level (desirable but not essential)
Demonstrated coaching or mentoring experience, preferably in chess
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline
Ability to work effectively with young athletes and provide constructive feedback
Knowledge of chess rules, techniques, and strategies
Commitment to upholding the values and ethos of the school community
Availability to commit to the required training and match schedule
